BARNABÉ GALLERY

OLD MASTER PAINTINGS

The Barnabé Gallery was founded in 1993 with the specialty of Old Master Paintings.

Most of the activity is concentrated on French, Flemish and Dutch schools of the 17th century, french artists of the Louis XIII and Louis XIV period, with an emphasis to those who worked in Italy at some point.

We also feature pictures sporting a variety of themes juxtaposing both prominent and lesser known 16th to 19th century Masters.

Most of the work is devoted to research and sale to art professionals, museums, other institutions and private collectors. The result has been a plethora of discoveries, some of which are of major significance and historical, as well as numerous sales to Museums over more than twenty years. For example, Philippe Barnabé is responsible for research which has already led to the identification and recognition of important works by Anthony Van Dyck and many others more. As a foremost connoisseur of Van Dyck’s technique, we have studied each of the artist’s extant works in European museums in situ. The regular attendance of European Museums, institutions and churches, are constantly perfecting the knowledge. The Gallery has a documentation of more than 103.000 photographs.

You are invited to explore the general presentation of our activities on our site and we remain at your disposal.
