BARNABÉ GALLERY
OLD MASTER PAINTINGS
The Barnabé Gallery was founded in 1993 and has specialized in Old Master Paintings for other thirty years.
Most of the activity is concentrated on French, Flemish, Dutch and Italian schools of the 17th century, french artists of the Louis XIII and Louis XIV period, with an emphasis to those who worked in Italy at some point.
We also feature pictures sporting a variety of themes juxtaposing both prominent and lesser known 16th to 19th century Masters.
Most of the work is devoted to research and sale to museums, other institutions, private collectors and art professionals. Most of the work is devoted to research, but also to sales to museums, other institutions, private collections and art professionals. The result has been a plethora of discoveries, some of which are of major significance and historical, as well as numerous sales to Museums over more than twenty years. Philippe Barnabé is responsible of research work, which has already led to the identification and recognition of important works by Anthony Van Dyck and many others more. As a foremost connoisseur of Van Dyck’s technique, we have studied each of the artist’s extant works in European museums in situ. Regular visits to archives, museums, and churches throughout Europe enable us to continually expand our knowledge. The Gallery has a documentation of more than 111.000 photographs.
